ESOL Program — Available Fall 2010
FYI Online's ESOL program is built for non-native speakers (NNS) of English and is specifically designed to raise the English level of NNS to a proficiency level whereby they can meet grade-level expectations in their content classes. Six semester-long courses focuses on the three major skill areas of Reading, Writing and Oral Communication, while the essential grammar component spirals throughout the program. Connected by common themes presented through a wide variety of literature and non-fiction readings, FYI Online’s modular construction allows students to be placed in the appropriate skill level within each strand based on the results of a carefully designed placement test. This model ensures that each student will spend intensive time studying areas of need while moving beyond their areas of strength.
