Reading Foundations

The purpose of this course is to provide foundational skills in the form of reading. Emphasizing cultural literacy and including such diverse topics as global current events, the earth’s endangered species, the power of music to transform culture, the dangers of overpopulation and the importance of protecting the environment, Foundational Reading provides students with the reading strategies they will need to not only become proficient readers, but to explore personal connections with literature, themselves, and society.
